Hi there, my name is Ricky D. Elliott, AKA, Ricky the Wrangler. I learned to ride and start horses at an early age. That is when my love of horses and cowboyin’ first started.
I was born and raised in the Oklahoma Panhandle, also known as “No Man’s Land”. I was the youngest of eight kids. I had five sisters and two brothers. I graduated from Panhandle State University with a Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Business and a Minor in Animal Science.
I went on the operate the family ranch for a while, and “cowboyed”, or day worked in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas and Colorado from 1988 to 2006 when the drought forced me out and I started working construction. This brought me back to Colorado.
I’ve always loved the mountains ever since my dad brought us here on vacation when I was young. I got my first Wrangler position, and that is where I discovered that I really enjoyed talking to people on the rides and getting to know them.
I found myself at Aspen Lodge at the end of last year giving sleigh and wagon rides, and now have been given the opportunity to operate the Livery. I am very excited, because it is the most beautiful scenery for horseback rides in the world. There are some of my favorite activities here too, such as hiking, skiing, rafting, camping and hunting. There’s no place better than Colorado.
I hope you see y’all real soon!
